Cutting through the noise of Washington D.C.’s fertile post-punk scene, Gauche is an unadulterated supergroup of sorts. Containing members of both Downtown Boys and Priests, this wild ensemble have been making raw disco-punk bangers with a defiant political edge. Having recently signed to respected indie label Merge, Gauche’s newest single takes aim at right-wing troublemaker and leading conspiracy theorist Alex Jones. Channeling the simple yet ingenious bass grooves of ESG’s Deborah Scroggins, mixed with the unruly playfulness of The B-52’s and a hell of a lot more swearing, ‘Conspiracy Theories’ is a cathartic cut that’ll leave you feeling suitably riled up. -Holly Mullineaux
